No. Future homebuyers can only begin working on sweat equity hours after they have been accepted into the Homeownership Program.

How long after being accepted into the Homeownership Program am I able to buy my completed home?
It usually takes between 12 to 18 months after being accepted into the program for a home to be completed and ready for purchase. Sometimes it may be more, sometimes it may be less.

No. Habitat for Humanity provides "a hand up, not a hand out" to help hard working, low income families and individuals, who otherwise would be unable to afford a loan through traditional financing, purchase a Habitat home with an affordable mortgage.
Is there anything I can start doing now to prepare for when applications are open?
Yes! Interested applicants can work on:
       1. reducing/paying off debt
       2. making timely payments on their bills
       3. resolving any accounts they may have in collections
       4. maintaining stable income

We partner with a number of organizations that offer free budget and credit counseling for those interested in preparing themselves before applications are open.  Completing free budget and credit counseling is NOT a requirement to be able to apply to our program but it is highly recommended and can increase your chances of being a better qualified applicant.
You can contact our partner organizations directly to get more information.
