Q: Do I need building experience to volunteer on a construction site?

A: No! We have experienced crew leaders and construction staff that will guide you throughout your whole experience!

Q: I don’t like working outside. Are there other ways I can volunteer?

A: Yes! You can volunteer in either of our ReStores, located in Delray Beach and Boca Raton, or in our administrative office. Visit our Volunteer Page to learn more.
 
Q: How old do you have to be to volunteer?

A: Construction volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Neighborhood Revitalization volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. ReStore volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. All minors that volunteer must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian submitted to Habitat prior to their volunteer experience. 
 
Q: Do I need to bring anything to my volunteer shift?

A: We provide everything you will need! Just come ready to have a good time!
 
Q: My child is not old enough to volunteer. Can I still bring them with me to my volunteer shift?

A: For safety reasons, we do not allow anyone to be on our construction sites, at our Neighborhood Revitalization sites, or volunteering at the ReStores that is not old enough to volunteer, even with a parent or guardian present.
 
Q: How long is a volunteer shift?

A: Volunteer shifts range from 3.5 hours to 8 hours. Log into your volunteer account to view the opportunities calendar and find a volunteer shift that interests you!

Q: What areas does Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County serve?

A: We serve Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach.
 
Q: Does Habitat for Humanity give away homes for free?

A: No. Our homes are sold to our partner families at an interest free mortgage.
 
Q: How is Habitat for Humanity funded?

A: We are funded primarily through individual and corporate donations.
 
Q: Does Habitat for Humanity only build new homes?

A: No! We also repair homes in our community through our Neighborhood Revitalization program.

Q: What services does Neighborhood Revitalization provide?

A: Neighborhood Revitalization provides quality exterior repairs. This includes roofs, siding, windows, doors, ramps & railings, landscaping, painting, etc. We do not perform repairs inside the home.

Q: How do I sign up to have my home repaired through NR?

A: Applications can be found HERE. The application packet, once completed, can be submitted to our office in Delray Beach, Florida or emailed to Russell Sykes at rsykes@hfhboca.org. We are currently only repairing in the following focused areas: Pearl City, Boca Raton; Lincoln Court, Boca Raton; Delray Manor, Boca Raton; Delray Beach; Heart of Boynton, Boynton Beach;
 
Q: How do I become a Habitat Homeowner?

A: To become a Habitat Homeowner, you must apply HERE. Our applications open/close in cycles. If our current cycle is closed, add your name to our wait list by entering your email in the form at the bottom of the page.
 
Q: What kind of donations do you accept at the ReStore?

A: We accept all different items including furniture, clothing, home decor, and building materials. Everything must be in good condition and must be able to go right from your living room to our showroom.

Q: Do you pick up ReStore donations?

A: Yes, we do. You can request a free pickup HERE.
 
Q: Where are the ReStores located?

A: The Delray Beach ReStore is located at 1900 North Federal Highway, Delray Beach, Florida 33483. The Boca Raton ReStore is located at 272 South Dixie Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33432.
