 Court Ordered Community Service Policy


Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County offers a unique partnership for individuals who are seeking to demonstrate responsibility and accountability to fulfill your Court Ordered Community Service. In order to assure a positive experience for both Staff and Volunteers, please read the following policy, program requirements and responsibilities. 
 

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE PROCESS BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR COURT ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE.

IMPORTANT:
Volunteer assignment cannot begin prior to submitting a completed application and obtaining a written approval from our office.  
Any volunteer hours completed with Habitat for Humanity prior to receiving an approval
will NOT be eligible to fulfill court ordered community service hours.


  • Minimum of 30 hours of court appointed community service is required
  • Applicant is subject to a criminal background check
  • Applicant must complete and submit the Court Order Community Service application (located at the bottom of this page)
  • Applicant should anticipate about 7-10 business days for their application to be processed.
  • Applicant will be notified via email about the final decision regarding their application. 
  • Applicant MAY NOT sign up for any volunteer shifts until written approval has been received.
IF APPROVED:
  • Applicant will have to complete online volunteer registration (instructions will be provided).
  • Sign up for any volunteer shifts through our online portal.
  • Applicant is responsible for signing in and out during their volunteer shift at the location site.
  • Habitat for Humanity is not responsible for hours not logged or not signed in using the online system. 
  • Applicant must submit a Community Service Letter Request to receive a verification letter for court, after successful completion of community service assignment.  Please note this may take up to 7-10 business days to verify and process so please plan ahead as we are unable to rush such requests.
  • Please note, we do not provide verification letters for partial hours.  You will only receive one letter (which must be requested by you) after your min. requirement is fully satisfied.  However, you will be able to access and track your hours through your online volunteer account. ​

​TERMINATION:
Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County reserves the right to terminate agreement for court ordered community service at will. Habitat for Humanity expects the same standards of professional work, punctuality and appropriate behavior representing Habitat's mission and image in the community from any Court Ordered Community Service Volunteer as it does from Staff. Any unproductive, disruptive, or in any other way negative behavior that impacts the accomplishment of the daily goals will result in termination.
