CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) 

Habitat for Humanity (“HFH”) brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.  Our local affiliate, Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County, partners with families to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.  Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.  In addition to new home construction, the neighborhood revitalization program addresses the need for more adequate housing and healthier living conditions through home repair and community engagement. 
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate professional to lead these efforts.  The Chief Executive Officer is a strong and visionary leader who provides overall managerial leadership for all aspects of the affiliate's operations in accordance with the directives, policies and objectives set by the Board of Directors with an emphasis on strategic planning, long-term goals and growth. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is the leading advocate for the Affiliate. The CEO is a non-voting member of the Board and Executive Committee, and ad hoc member of all Committees.
This is a Full Time Exempt position requiring flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed for meetings and special events.

Essential Functions:
Organizational Leadership: 
  • Manages and leads the affiliate toward its primary goals and mission.
  • Oversees employment decisions at the executive level of the affiliate.
  • Uphold organizational values; Promotes positive communications and relations among departments to create a spirit of unity at the affiliate.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion amongst staff, constituents, and the community served
  • Provides direct leadership, oversight, training and supervision to the Chief Financial Officer, and the Director level positions such as Human Resources, Government Affairs, Construction, Neighborhood Revitalization, Homeowner Services and Development.
  • Ensures the affiliate's compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Recommends all appropriate Board action and implements Board policies as needed.
Strategic Vision and Leadership:
  • A visionary leader who develops the organization's strategic plan and establishes short-term objectives, long-range goals and related plans and policies in accordance with the Board directives and organization's mission.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the mission of HFH.
  • Advocate for housing and HFH initiatives locally, and work with HFH International to advance state and national HFH initiatives.
  • Oversees the organization's financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding to execute the mission and goals of the affiliate.
  • Reviews the results and accomplishments of all operations. Establishes responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives; develops and revises budgets as appropriate in accordance with current conditions.
  • Presents regular reports on the status of the affiliate's operations to the Board of Directors and to affiliate staff.
  • Facilitates Board meetings, Executive Committee meetings, Board retreats and other Board meetings and initiatives.
Development:
  • Develop and oversee a development strategy for fundraising.  Maintain knowledge of fundraising principles, processes and the ability to develop working relationships with potential funding sources.
  • Serve as the face of Habitat throughout South Palm Beach County. Maintains high visibility as the affiliate's representative in the local community/county with key stakeholders, as well as the Board of Directors, employees, donors, businesses, government, and other constituents.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to create and articulate the long-term vision/strategic plan and provide leadership to direct the affiliate to achieve goals.
  • Ability to establish, foster and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, local government, other non-profits, donors and the business community.
  • Mission Oriented: Believes in Habitat's mission and values and considers them as a framework for all professional decisions.
  • People Oriented: Provides motivating leadership to all managers.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate as a leader and communicate Habitat's program and mission clearly and persuasively.
  • Thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas and phases of business operations.
  • Possesses Integrity – is described by others as being honest; consistently takes responsibility for own actions
Preferred Attributes:
•    Previous HFH experience and/or non-profit experience
•    Master's Degree
Education and Experience Requirements:
•    Minimum 10 years of senior management experience.
•    Bachelor's Degree.
•    Strong communication and listening skills.
•    Strategic vision with ability to articulate successfully.
•    Strong leadership skills with ability to develop staff and volunteers.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Work is typically performed in the office but does involve work at and leadership on construction sites on occasion, requiring a hard hat; and other various locations for events.
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Ability to work in medium-high stress, fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, deadlines, and timelines, and to react and respond quickly.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary:
Compensation and annual bonuses will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefit package, including health care, vacation, and retirement.

CONSTRUCTION LABORER
Reports to: Construction Superintendent
Description: This position is for a Construction Laborer who also assists in all aspects of construction.
Employee Status:  Non-exempt

Responsibilities:

• Performs all hands-on construction tasks as directed by the Construction Superintendent
• Assists in the supervision of all site preparation and layout
• Assists in job site activities on each designated workday and works to ensure construction is accomplished.
• Works with crew leaders, volunteers and partner families on construction tasks.
• Assists with homeowner warranty complaints and repairs
• Assists in the training of all volunteers
• Maintain quality of construction in accordance with local, state, federal, and Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County building standards
• Maintains Habitat equipment and materials
• Must provide a safe working environment at all times by abiding by all Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County, OSHA, and EPA safety standards

Required Skills / Experience / Physical Requirements 
• Knowledge and experience in the construction
• Work will require climbing ladders and scaffolding, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions. 
• Ability to work outside for extended periods of time during all months of the year
• Ability to maneuver over uneven ground
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to work and maneuver on roofs and high spaces
• Ability to work in tight confines 
• Ability to perform all required on-site construction labor associated with house construction

Estimated Time Commitment: Full Time Position – 40 hours/week 
Service Week: Tuesday – Saturday, with select Sundays and Mondays
Required Meetings: Weekly construction meetings, bi-weekly all-staff meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma
• 1 year in field residential construction experience
The successful candidate must pass a drug test and a background check as required

DONATIONS AMBASSADOR/LEAD DRIVER

The Donation Ambassador performs general driver duties as assigned, primarily the pickup and delivery of donated items at donor's homes and commercial locations. The Donations Ambassador is a primary liaison with the donating community alongside the driving assistant. Position requires a responsible, accountable, consistently punctual, tactful and a confident communicator with interpersonal skills. Able to lift/move objects over 75 lbs. with driving assistant's help. Clean driving record required. Possess supervisory abilities, knowledge of retail or non-profit work environment, a professional demeanor, an understanding of Habitat for Humanity's mission and a desire to promote it.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for pickup of various donated items that are sold in the Habitat South Florida area ReStores
Loads and unloads ReStore box trucks, following all safety guidelines
Performs daily vehicle inspection, thoroughly fills out daily paperwork, communicates daily with Dispatch Coordinator
Ensure ReStore policies and procedures regarding guidelines of acceptable vs. unacceptable donations are adhered to
Assist with organization of donated items in receiving, on sales floor and in sorting areas to ensure orderly maintenance of these areas while not driving truck
Assist with floor maintenance, housekeeping and furniture placement while not driving the truck
Assist in defusing challenging situations with tact and an ability to turn a negative situation into a positive one
Do not use cell while driving. cell use while driving is against our policy and insurance guidelines. No smoking on trucks or in and around donor’s homes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Demonstrates familiarity with the South Florida area and suburbs
Independent worker
Working knowledge of general truck maintenance
Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
Communication skills to assign tasks or to convey information to donors, volunteers and staff
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
High School education
Valid driver’s license
Prior experience driving a box truck preferred (No CDL license requirements)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
Climbing, jumping, lifting, carrying (minimum 50lbs. multiple times per day).
Maneuvering, navigating, and driving large box trucks up to 26'

DRIVER'S ASSISTANT/FLOOR STAFF
​

Assist Driver with directions and answer all incoming cell calls when vehicle is in motion.
Make sure all the items needed are on the truck for the day. (Review paperwork for specific instructions).
Plan out day accordingly based on time allotted, make calls prior to donor pickups, be clear and professional on phone with donors and be sure to schedule lunch breaks.
Pack truck correctly and according to safety guidelines.
Communicate to Dispatch Coordinator with any pickups that need to be rescheduled.
Assist Driver in morning routine of inspecting truck before heading out.
Follow donation guidelines when doing pickups.
When in question send pictures and call Dispatch Coordinator or Dispatch Assistant to verify.
Assist Driver in cleaning the truck at the end of day and help maintain the vehicles including maintenance as needed.
Guide driver in & out of all pickup/drop-off locations and in tight driving areas.
Clean restrooms daily.
Adhere to all safety rules, safety procedures and keep safe zones clear when not in use. Note: Policy and Procedure Manual available at all times at the front sales desk.
Follows directions from the Dispatch Coordinator and Driver (if acting as assistant driver).
Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. throughout the day.
